The Gamification Gurus list  is powered by Leaderboarded with data from Klout, Lanyrd  and Twitter.

What’s new this month?

The leaderboard above is generated from my new app “Leaderboarded” – a web app to create and manage a dynamic leaderboard of anyone and anything. I’m in the beta testing stage at the moment so any gurus who’d like a demo or to try the software just ping me and I’ll give you a walkthrough.

Who’s doing well?

It never ceases to amaze me that Gabe Zichermann manages to get to the number one slot so often. I promise you it’s not fixed, it’s just that on all the metrics I use he persistently does well. Other leading lights consistently do well such as Ian Bogost, Jane McGonigal, Michael Wu and Sebastian Deterding. R Ray Wang and Dennis Crowley have such strong Klout scores that they hardly have to do anything to leap up the rankings each month.

Score discrepancies over March 2012

For the eagle eyed you’ll note a few issues with how Leaderboarded thinks the Gurus did in March versus the Top 20 list I published here on Gamification of Work. Suffice to say the Leaderboarded version (as shown in the previous rank) is the correct one. I can only apologise as I was doing the leaderboard manually last month and missed out some key data sources. I’m hoping the  new system gives less room for pilot error…

Can I see my score if I’m not in the Top 40?

Yes, you can now log in with your twitter account and you’ll be able to see where you stand on this month’s leaderboard at http://www.leaderboarded.com

Can I leave the leaderboard?

Of course, just ping me an email toby@tobyberesford.com and I’ll take you off the leaderboard, no questions asked.

Can I join the leaderboard?

Yes, sign up at http://bit.ly/iamagameguru

What’s happening next month?

Next month I’m hoping to do all the calculations via leaderboarded, showing that you’ll all be able to make your own similar leaderboards… I wonder what you’ll come up with (yes I’m thinking about you Ivan Kuo and your Top 10 Women in Gamification list)… ;o)

Have a Happy Easter and don’t eat too many eggs. Now how can we de-incentivise that I wonder…
