What is a Gamification Guru?
What is a Gamification Guru – that’s a question I’ve been asking myself while running this Leaderboard – now a year old!
A guru is really just another word for teacher. As gamification moves out of the world of ‘buzz’ and into the slightly more humdrum world of usefulness, so we should expect to see new ‘gurus’ rise to the top of the list.
We can see this with Kevin Werbach who has galvanised thousands online with his coursera gamification course. This is reflected in his much higher Gurus ranking since the course went live, mainly due to him getting many more mentions and questions on Twitter related to #gamification.
How do I add my Slideshare activity to the leaderboard?
In a business context though the ‘gurus’ tend to share a slide deck, and there’s no better place to do that in social media than on the site slideshare.net.
That’s why from 1 October, the Gamification Gurus will also be taking into account Slideshare.net scores, this is made possible by Leaderboarded’s new slideshare integration.
In order to see you Gurus’ rank reflect any activity you or your followers do on Slideshare you’ll need to sign in to Leaderboarded and connect your slideshare account to your profile. Here’s a short video where Anton showed SMWLondon speakers how to do exactly that.

Tyler Altrup was the opening keynote speaker at the New Marketing International Congress in El Salvador, Central America last week (www.NewMarketing.me). The audience was really impressed and there’s no doubt Tyler has the ability to lead the way in Gamification. Great conference and totally recommended for any event.
